Kilfinnan to Loch Oich
We re-join the great glen way half a kilometre before Kilfinnan head on towards the laggan swing bridge at the head of Loch Oich which is our destination for the day. Kilfinnnan is a tiny hamlet, with a graveyard, and sits in front of an expanse of flat land which spreads out into Loch lochy. From Kilfinnan the great glen way continues the short distance to the end of Loch Lochy on road before re-joining the Caledonian Canal at Laggan Lochs. We charge along this section of canal towards Loch Oich, aware that daylight is short. We pass Laggan and think briefly about staying in the youth hostel, but we push on to find a campsite. At the Laggan Swing bridge we rejoin a road briefly as it makes its way into the Great Glens water park. We stop at the shop for a bar of chocolate to help spur us on into finding a campsite in the now what can only be called night. We join the Forset path which takes us along the shores of loch oich through tall pines. It's a beautiful clear, starry night again, and quite pleasent to be walking in the mild night air. We camp at the first possible location, on a bit of land jutting out into water. It's totally flat! We camp crammed between the path and the shores of Loch Oich. After some hot camping food, Jo procededs to use some spare hot water to have a sponge bath outside the tent!
